Will frequent charging reduce the efficiency of the battery?

Frequent charging does not reduce the efficiency and life of the battery. NASA has conducted a special study on how to extend the life of the battery. The results of the study show that the more full the battery charge, the greater the loss will be. If you can keep the lithium battery power in the middle of the state, the battery life will be longer. This means neither the lithium battery charge to 100% nor the lithium battery power depletion; the smaller the interval between charging and discharging, the better.

  And do you understand the common charging methods for lithium battery charging? Here is a look at the common charging methods.

  1. constant current charging: Maintaining a constant current to charge the battery during the charging process is the most common charging method, the general charger uses constant current charging.

  2. Constant-current and constant-voltage charging: the charging voltage is the upper line voltage that the battery can withstand, and the current is a set constant current, which is the most commonly used for our lithium batteries;

  3. Non-constant current charging: using a linear power supply, plus a simple control circuit, low cost.

  To avoid overcharging the battery, the charging process needs to be controlled or terminated when necessary or at the completion of charging. There are four common charging control methods as follows.

  1. Time control: The end of charging is controlled by setting a certain charging time, generally in accordance with the corresponding time required to charge 120%~150% of the nominal capacity of the battery.

  2. -△V control: When the battery is fully charged, the battery voltage will reach a peak, and then the voltage will drop. When the voltage drops by a certain value, the charging is terminated. 3.

  3. Peak voltage control: Determine the end of charging by detecting the voltage of the battery and terminate charging when the voltage reaches the peak.

  4. TCO control: Stop charging when the battery temperature rises to a certain value.

  Frequent charging will reduce the efficiency of the battery, and the charging method for lithium battery chargers should not be ignored.
