Owners of new energy vehicles should know that when our new energy vehicles are charged by on board charger, we can distinguish between DC charger (fast on board charger) and AC charging piles (slow charging piles) according to the charging power, charging duration, and the type of current output from the car charger, so what is the difference between these two types of charging piles? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
About the difference between fast-charging and slow-charging charging piles: Fast charging refers to high-power DC charging. It is the use of a DC charger pile charging interface, the grid of alternating current into DC electricity, delivered to the fast charging port of electric vehicles, and electricity directly into the battery charging. It can be charged to 80% in half an hour at the earliest.
Owners of new energy vehicles should know that when our new energy vehicles are charged by on board charger, we can distinguish between DC charging piles (fast charging piles) and AC charging piles (slow charging piles) according to the charging power, charging duration, and the type of current output from the charging piles, so what is the difference between these two types of charging piles? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Regarding the difference between fast-charging and slow-charging charging posts:
Fast charging refers to high-power DC charger. It is the use of a DC charger pile charging interface, the grid of alternating current into DC electricity, delivered to the fast charging port of electric vehicles, and electricity directly into the battery charging. It can be charged to 80% in half an hour at the earliest.
Slow charging refers to AC charging. It is the AC charger pile charging port that feeds the AC power from the grid into the slow charging of the EV, and after the charger inside the car converts the AC power into DC power and then feeds it into the battery to finish charging. It takes 6 to 8 hours to fully charge the battery for general models.
Advantages of fast-charging chargers:
Short occupation time, DC charger voltage is generally greater than the battery voltage, the need to transform the AC power into DC power through rectification devices, the power battery pack voltage resistance, and safety put forward higher requirements.
Disadvantages of fast-charging charger piles:
Fast charging will use a larger current and power, which will have a great impact on the battery pack, charging too fast, resulting in a false charge. Fast charging mode is much larger than slow charging mode, the resulting high temperature will directly lead to accelerated aging inside the battery, greatly shortening the life of the battery, and in serious cases will lead to frequent battery failure.
Advantages of slow-charge charging pile:
Charging the device battery at a lower rate, almost no false power. And slow charging current will generally be less than 10 amps, with a maximum power of 2.2 kilowatts, several times less than the 16 kilowatts of fast charging, not only to reduce heat and battery pressure, more conducive to extending the life of the battery.
Disadvantages of slow-charging charging posts:
Charging time is long and often takes several hours to charge a lossy battery pack to a full charge.
To be clear, the reason for the division of fast-charging charging piles and slow-charger piles is certainly different, and there are their own advantages and disadvantages. For new energy electric vehicles, the cost of battery maintenance is relatively high. So it is recommended that when you use the charging mode, try to slow charging as the main, and fast charging as a supplement, so as to maximize the battery life.
