On board charger and ev charger station

Purchasing a private charging station is a relatively high investment, so you must carefully consider your decision. First, it is important to understand the purpose and location of the charging station. You will have different requirements for a company charging station than for a home charging station. On this basis, it is necessary to consider what performance you need, choose smart features and payment systems, and last but not least the type of connectors and cable connections.

A little theory first - two chargers are important for EVs:
On board charger (OBC)
Charging stations, also known as Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)
The car charger is built into the interior of the car. On the other hand, the charging station (EVSE) is located outside. The
charging station is the source of electricity, which is then sent to the car charger. In the case of AC charging, the on-board charger is responsible for converting the AC power to DC, which is then sent to the battery. How AC and DC charging work is explained here.
Since the current must pass through the car charger, its performance is very important. The EVSE charging station cannot provide more energy to the car than the
on board charger. So the minimum power required for a home charging station is the same as for a car charger.

But at the same time, it's important to recognize that technology is still evolving. A good home charging station has a long lifespan, so may service multiple cars over its lifetime. It is therefore advisable to consider choosing the charging station with the highest performance.
If the charging station is to be used in the company, it must be selected according to the car with the most powerful on-board charger, and it must also be considered that customers may come to visit. A charging station with the highest performance is almost a requirement.
You can learn how car chargers work and how they affect charging here.

Of course, EVs can be charged directly from an outlet using a portable charger. External charging stations aren't strictly necessary, but they serve many other neat functions beyond simply keeping the vehicle and occupants safe. It's up to you to choose what you need.
For companies with a large number of employees, it is absolutely appropriate that the charging station is equipped with a system so that employees, customers or friends of the company can connect to the charging station and start charging. At the same time, with more charging stations charging more cars, it is better to choose charging stations that can communicate with each other and provide what is called "load balancing", which means that charging stations can charge at the same time. Full power until the capacity of the electrical connection is reached and power is "fairly" distributed among all vehicles.

It would also be beneficial for households to be able to connect a charging station to the house and adapt it to the house's energy needs. During full operation, the smart charging station uses only "free" current and begins charging when capacity is released. Or, conversely, it will charge less if housing demand increases. Alternatively, home charging stations can be set to charge only at night when electricity is the cheapest.

EV Cable and Connector Type
The last variable to consider is the type of cable and connector. There are two options, either a station with an integrated cable, or a station with only a socket, and then everyone connects the cable carried in the car to the socket.
As with any new technological development, there are many types of connectors for electric vehicles. In Europe, Type 1 and Type 2 can currently be found. Type 1 is currently in decline and new cars with this connector are no longer produced in Europe (instead, in the US it is the dominant type of connector). In Europe, most cars are already equipped with a Type 2 connector, and all new cars are equipped with it.
