Partnership Expands Nationwide EV Fast Charging Network in 45 Metropolitan Markets

EVgo and General Motors (GM) have achieved a significant milestone by deploying over 2,000 public DC fast charging stalls across the United States. This accomplishment represents a doubling of their charging network footprint in just over a year, with installations strategically located in 45 metropolitan markets across 32 states. By prioritizing high-traffic locations such as grocery stores and retail centers, the partnership is addressing the critical need for convenient and accessible EV Charging Infrastructure.

The rapid pace of this expansion underscores the momentum of the EVgo-GM partnership. After reaching the 1,000th charging stall milestone in August 2023, the collaboration swiftly doubled that figure. Notably, their latest installation in Murrieta, California, features advanced 350kW fast chargers capable of simultaneously charging multiple electric vehicles, setting a new standard in public EV Charging.

Focusing on Meeting Urban Charging Needs

By concentrating on metropolitan Charging Solutions, the partnership addresses one of the most pressing barriers to EV adoption: accessibility for urban residents. Renters and apartment dwellers, who often lack home charging options, are a primary focus for these strategically placed charging stations. This effort ensures that EV drivers in urban areas can easily access reliable and fast charging options, further encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles.

Looking Ahead

The partnership plans to deploy 400 flagship charging locations in major metropolitan markets across states such as Arizona, California, and Texas. This expansion is expected to bring the network to 2,850 charging stalls, reinforcing the companies' commitment to creating a nationwide public charging network that supports the rapid growth of EVs in the United States.
